Newborn Info

If we have scheduled a newborn session – first off CONGRATULATIONS!
Please read the recommendations below – to help provide the most succesful shoot for your sweet baby!
Comfort and warmth is going to be the number one factor for providing an extra sleepy atmosphere for your newborn.
I bring lot's of props and items for your newborn session. Though I may rummage through your home to utilize unique pieces for your images.
Some items I bring:  blankets, boppy, baskets/props, hats, headbands, beanbag, camera equipment, etc.
Unloading the plethora of goods and prepping at the newborn home takes  20+minutes at your home.
If your husband is home, I may utilize his uber strong muscles to help!
I don’t need a ton of workspace, but really need a room with great NATURAL light and warmth. (The two most important necessities!)
I have some simple strategies for my newborn shoots and need your help/preparation before I arrive:
-I typically like to shoot 5-10 days old, preferably closer to 5, if schedule and health allow. The newer the babe, the sleepier and more ‘out of it’ they will be.
-have space heater on hand and warming up the room prior to my arrival; as well as have the heat going in the home… babies will sleep like a dream, when they are WARM!
-white noise machine AND stereo – I use both to have plenty of ambient noise going, otherwise the click of a camera is loud
-well fed baby, about 30 minutes prior to my arrival
-all blankets, props, outfits, hats, bloomers, and ideas laid out for me
-a room with great natural light (that should be the warmest)
-please have the nursery nice and tidy so that it will be ‘photo-ready’ and gorgeous
-the baby should be in only a diaper when I arrive, so that I can slip it off to start shooting. Taking off clothes will just disrupt and awaken them.
-mama and daddy, be ready to help me with baby and props
-be prepared for a long shoot.  babies will sleep, but when they are being moved around a lot, their sleep isn’t near as solid and posing them takes time.
-be on-hand for feedings and  pee trickles & POOP explosions
-watch your sweet little sugar, be cuter than ever… fall in love ALL over again
Please email me if you have any questions or need suggestions!
If you feel your home doesn’t provide adequate space/light/warmth – think of alternate places – such as grandma/grandpa’s home!
